St. John Paul II Centurion Baseball outlasts TMI-Episcopal in high-scoring affair, 14-8
Scoreboard operators were busy on Tuesday as St. John Paul II Centurions and TMI-Episcopal combined for 22 runs. St. John Paul II Centurions eventually won the offensive battle 14-8 in seven innings.
The teams banged out 19 hits hits between them, as well as three for extra bases.
Nine runs in the opening three innings allowed St. John Paul II Centurions to easily put away TMI-Episcopal. An error, a hit by pitch, and a wild pitch in the first inning and an RBI single by Chris Sanchez, a wild pitch, an RBI single by Jackson Pullin, a two-run triple, the first of 2, by Sam Works, and an RBI single by John-Ryan Oliveira during the second inning helped St. John Paul II Centurions put some runs on the board early.
Pullin racked up two RBIs on three hits for St. John Paul II Centurions.
After pushing across five runs in the top of the fifth, TMI-Episcopal faced just a 9-8 deficit. , a three-run double by James Brodrick, and an RBI double by Will Cruse fueled TMI-Episcopal's comeback. Finally, Marc Castaneda got CJ Gonzales to fly out to end the threat.
Sanchez was brought in to close the game at the top of the 6th. The Centurions added 5 more runs in the bottom half of the inning to help Sanchez earn his first Save of the season. Elijah Ramos was credited with the Win.
