STJPII Baseball Wins Double-Dip Capped-Off By Mota's No-Hitter

The Centurion Baseball Team played a Double-Header vs Laredo St. Augustine on Saturday 4/16/16. St. John Paul II won the 1st game 14-4. Game 2 was highlighted by Ryan Mota throwing a no-hitter, and hitting an inside-the-park homerun past a diving center-fielder. This brings STJPII Baseball to a 6-4 district record.

St. John Paul II Centurions beat St. Augustine (Laredo, TX) 14-4 in four innings on Saturday at St John Paul II after an 11-run explosion in the third inning.

St. John Paul II Centurions scored in the third on an RBI double by Justin Swetish, an error, a two-run single by Chris Sanchez, a passed ball, a wild pitch, a walk by Jackson Pullin, a walk by Swetish, an error, and a two-run single by Jonathyn Molinar.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to four lead changes in the game.

No St. Augustine (Laredo, TX) batter was able to locate Mota's pitches during the game. Mota threw a no-hitter, striking out five batters and walking none while recording his momentous feat. He got Alfaro to ground out for the final out of the game.

The offense exploded for the St. John Paul II Centurions in the first. St. John Paul II Centurions' bats caught fire leading to 12 runs. St. John Paul II Centurions scored in the first on a sacrifice fly by Sam Works, a two-run triple by Brandon Deeb, a wild pitch, a wild pitch, a two-run triple by Mota, an RBI single by Chris Sanchez, an RBI single by Deeb, and a two-run double by Steve Perales.
