Home Opener serves as a "New Home" and a "Homecoming" for Volleyball Coaches

Centurion Volleyball teams played their first matches at home today vs. The Bishop Badgers. There were 3 matches, but Coach Rudy Valadez had plenty of good help.

These matches served as a platform for the home debuts of Assistant Coaches Ashley Gonzalez and Rachel Rogers. Coach Ashley's Freshman Team came away with a win vs. The Badgers. And Coach Rachel's Junior Varsity team followed with a win as well. The Varsity Centurions lost a hard fought match, 3-1 in front of a large Centurion crowd.

Ashley Gonzalez is a former Centurion Volleyball player. Her time at St. John Paul II High School helped lay the groundwork for the current program. "We are glad she is returning and bringing back some of that Centurion Pride, a very important element to our athletic department."

St.JPII HS a new home for Rachel Rogers, but so is Corpus Christi. She is a native of Southern California, the birthplace of beach volleyball.
"Her type of experience, leadership, and personality is what will continue to build our program with, to catapult these young athletes to the next level."

Their next matches are Saturday, August 15 @ HM King HS in Kingsville.
