Centurion Baseball Represents Texas in Alexandria, LA

The St. John Paul II Baseball Team was the Lone Star State's only Representative in a Pool of very talented teams at the annual Grace Christian High School Baseball Tournament, in Alexandria, LA.
The team has handled adversity very well. After a heart-breaking, last inning loss to State-Ranked Menard HS (Alexandria, LA), the Centurion Baseball Team used a big fourth inning to beat St. James High School (St. James, LA), 20-6

An 11-run explosion in the fourth inning lifted the St. John Paul II Centurions to a 20-6 "mercy-run-rule" win in four innings over St. James at Grace Christian (Alexandria, LA) on Saturday.

The STJPII Baseball Team scored in the fourth on a bases loaded walk, a two-run single by Steve Perales, a hit by pitch awarded to Gabriel Reyes, a walk by Jackson Pullin, an RBI single by Julian Rangel, a hit by pitch, a walk by Christian Alvarez, a two-run single by Perales, and a walk by Joshua Conde.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to five lead changes in the game.

Perales racked up four RBIs on two hits for St. John Paul II Centurions.

The Centurions easily handled St. James pitching as six hitters combined for six hits, 13 RBIs and 11 runs scored.

St. John Paul II jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

St. James answered St. John Paul II Centurions' top inning with five runs of its own in the second. St. James scored on a two-run single , an RBI double, a steal of home , and a groundout.

The STJPII Centurions never surrendered the lead after the third inning, scoring three runs on a two-run error and an RBI single by, Marc Castaneda, who was also the winning-pitcher, throwing a 2-hitter.
