Centurion Girls Basketball Earns State Ranking

Head Coach Marco Hernandez and the Lady Centurion Basketball Team put the state of Texas on alert this past weekend.

At the Donna, Tx, Dreamcatchers Tournament, the Centurions shook the tournament bracket by beating 6A PSJA-Memorial, a school with an enrollment of 1,910 students (STJPII - 280 students).

The STJPII Girls Basketball team then upended 5A Valley View, a school with 1,107 students.

The Lady Centurions also beat host-team 5A Donna North, a school with 1,772 students, before losing by one point in the Championship Game to Sharyland Pioneer.

Before yesterday's game versus State-Ranked Odem, the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches ranked the St. John Paul II High School Lady Centurion Basketball Team as #10 in TAPPS 5A. KIII-TV News took note and covered last night's game.

Coach Hernandez takes the state ranking in stride humbly stating, "We will continue to work to get better."
