Centurion Track Leaps Through District, Heading to Regionals

At the District Track meet in San Antonio, St. John Paul II Track and Field athletes Karley Hellums and Desirae Wright earned a spot on the lineup for the Regional competition, with their eyes headed on the State Prize. Meanwhile, the rest of the team will be headed to Regionals as well, with the possibility on competing, as each has earned alternate status at the district competition.

2016 TAPPS 4A-4 District Results:

Adrian Pichardo 5th place in the 100 with time of 11.82 7th place in the 200 w time of 24.38 8th out of 23 runners in the 400 with a time of 56.40

Desirae Wright
4th place in the 100 with a time of 13.38
2nd place in the 200 with a time of 27.94 (New School Record)

Kyrsten Cooper
5th place in the 200 with a time of 28.88

Alexandria Serna
7th out of 24 in the 400 with a time of 67.40

Matthew Smith
5th place in the 800 witha time of 2.12.54
5th place in the 1600 with a time of 4.58.56

5th missing 3rd place by 0.3 seconds and 4th by 0.1 seconds they ran a 1.56.73 (New School Record)

Karley Hellums
2nd in the Shotput still being ranked 2nd in the state with her best throw of 35'10.5"
3rd in the disc with a throw of 86'9"

David Apacible
had his season best jump of 5'8" learning how to high jump mid February.

The entire girls team will return next year as we move alignments. Putting Karley, Desirae, Kyrsten, and Lexi as some of the top female athletes in the district. The boys have 3 of the top freshman in the district as far as distance with Matt Smith, Luc Foster, and Will Moore. Daniel Yanez, as well as David Lopez and Augustine Nguyen should be some of our top sprinters for this next 2017 Season.
