It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but John Paul II Centurion Football Team ultimately got the result it was hoping for on Friday, after scoring on a touchdown and PAT in overtime.

They won a match that couldn't have been any closer, as the Bloodhounds also scored a touchdown, then going for 2 as the ball, and the game slipped-away from St. Joseph Academy 34-33.

Having pegged this as anyone's game, the MaxPreps state rankings were right on the nose.

John Paul II struggled in the first half and ended with zero points. As for St. Joseph Academy, they scored 33 to put John Paul II at a 0-33 disadvantage heading into the break. In the second half, however, John Paul II's defense made a stand and allowed a shut-out of 0 points.

The win got John Paul II back to even at 4-4. St. Joseph Academy are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

The teams are both focusing on improving their conference standings in their upcoming contests. John Paul II will have some time to rest before their next matchup, which is against San Antonio Christian in two weeks at 7:00 PM. As for St. Joseph Academy, they will face off against San Antonio Christian. Both of those teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
