St. JPII Football Shifts Focus After Ending Winning Drought

The St. John Paul II High School football team is starting the week, poised to move forward after their first win since a 20-19 win vs. St. Anthony (San Antonio) on November 9, 2012.

The 26-20 victory vs. the Agua Dulce Longhorns was also the Centurion football team's first win by more the 1-point since 2011.

With key performances by Sam Works, Steve Perales, Jace Gaza, and the Centurion Defense, StJPII Football fans are starting to sense the construction of a solid program.

With their win, the Centurions are strategically setting the scene for a ramp up to district play.

On FRI.- Sept. 25 Coach Gaza's wrecking crew will play the first district game, facing Victoria St Joe @JPII - 7:30 p.m.

The week before, FRI.- Sept. 18, the Centurions face Riviera Kaufer @Riviera - 7:30 p.m., in their last pre-district matchup.

But, this coming FRI.- Sept. 11, it's the battle of the JPII's as your Centurions defend their home turf vs JPII Schertz - 7:00 p.m. South Texas, Corpus Christi, Coastal Bend | Continuous News Coverage | Corpus Christi
