Texas Rangers Prospect Jose Trevino will always be StJPII's #21

Last nights Baseball Booster Club Potluck Dinner was set wish the Centurion Baseball Team a great season as they kick of the 2016 baseball schedule. They also used the event to honor one of STJPII's greats in Jose Trevino, and send him off to Spring Training with love from the new batch of Centurion Ballplayers.

Trevino's Number 21 was retired from circulation. Also the jersey he used to tie the Texas High School Homerun Record and win Back-to-Back State Championships in 2011 was also presented to him.

A sign that will hang in the outfield wall was displayed for the first time. A special event is being planned to unveil the sign before one of the Centurion's 2016 Home Games.

Centurion Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach JJ Trujillo said of Trevino, "Jose has been an inspiration to the whole school, not only the baseball team. He is a very special person and I am hoping he continues to influence the future of StJPII students. Jose has come out to the field, to work out with the current players, and he is a living testament to the rewards of hard work."

Trujillo added, "On the field, he is one of the fiercest competitors and most respectful players to the game of baseball I’ve ever seen. He’s a throwback ballplayer. I’ve always said he was a born leader, and now the Texas Rangers are saying the same."
