Throwback Jerseys Lift Centurion Baseball to 2-1 in District

An early lead helped the St. John Paul II Centurions defeat Laredo St. Augustine 13-2 on Throwback Tuesday.

The Centurions captured a 1-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. St. John Paul II then scored six runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was driven by a home run by Stephen Perales, a walk by Brandon Deeb, and a double by Sam Works.

STJPII collected seven hits. Justin De Los Santos and Works each collected multiple hits. Works and De Los Santos each drove in two runs to lead JP2.

The Centurions also tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Chris Sanchez led the way with three.

Ryan Mota pitched 4 innings, striking out 3 for the win.

The Centurions will take on the first place 3-0 IWA Angels on Saturday at 3pm at National LL.
